Askeladden Wins PTAB Review Of User Authentication Patent

By Matthew Bultman (April 24, 2017, 3:51 PM EDT) -- The Patent Trial and Appeal Board on Monday agreed to review a patent related to user authentication technology that Bank of America Corp. and other financial institutions were previously accused of infringing, following an America Invents Act challenge from Askeladden LLC.

Askeladden, a patent quality advocacy group that focuses on the financial services industry, requested inter partes review in October and argued that the patent, owned by N5 Technologies LLC, was invalid because it would have been obvious at the time of the invention.
