Weil Gotshal Atty Scolded Over Witness In Risperdal Trial

Law360, Philadelphia (February 10, 2015, 6:19 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania state judge admonished a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary's attorney from Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP for treating a fact witness employed by the company as an expert as defense testimony began Tuesday in a trial over side effects of the antipsychotic drug Risperdal.

Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas Judge Ramy Djerassi said Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. biochemist Ivo Caers was not in a position to testify on pharmaceutical regulations in the U.S., emphasizing that he was there to speak specifically to his own experience with the Risperdal approval process.
