Minn. High Court Scolds Colo. Atty For In-Laws Case

Law360, New York (August 31, 2016, 8:53 PM EDT) -- A divided Minnesota Supreme Court admonished a Colorado-based attorney Wednesday for representing his in-laws in a North Star State debt collection case without a license to practice there by sending emails to opposing counsel.

The decision met opposition from three of the court’s seven justices, who argued the representation by the unnamed attorney paralleled his work in Colorado, meaning he should be eligible for pro hac vice status.
