Big Pharma Largely Unscathed After Capitol Hill Showdown

Law360 (February 26, 2019, 6:37 PM EST) -- Leaders of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies on Tuesday deflected blame for high drug prices at a major Capitol Hill hearing and walked away facing little in the way of imminent threats to robust profits.

The three-hour hearing at the Senate Finance Committee found Republicans increasingly in agreement with Democrats, not to mention President Donald Trump, that drug prices have soared to unreasonable heights. But drug company executives mostly managed to dodge brickbats from lawmakers, and there seemed to be few ideas for realistic congressional action to make drugs more affordable.
