Concordia Pharma Sues Over Bowel Drug Trade Secrets

Law360 (April 8, 2019, 4:11 PM EDT) -- Two former employees of a drug manufacturer that makes Concordia Pharmaceuticals’ irritable bowel treatment Donnatal stole trade secrets and launched a new company to sell a “knockoff” version of the drug, Concordia alleges in a lawsuit filed in California federal court.

Concordia Pharmaceuticals Inc. SÀRL, Advanz Pharma Corp. and Concordia Pharmaceuticals (US) Inc. said in a Friday complaint that Vitae Enim Vitae Scientific Inc. was trying to piggyback off the success of Concordia’s Donnatal Elixir by making a copycat phenobarbital-and-belladonna-alkaloids mixture of its own.
