DC Circ. Shelves Contraception Suit To Await ACA Rule

Law360, New York (December 19, 2012, 2:40 PM EST) -- The D.C. Circuit on Tuesday delayed a challenge by two religious colleges over the Affordable Care Act's requirements for employees' contraception coverage, saying it would take a look again after the federal government issues new rules for how the mandate will apply to religiously affiliated institutions.

Wheaton College and Belmont Abbey College had challenged the ACA's contraception mandate, which requires employers to cover contraception and other services free of charge, as an infringement of their Christian beliefs.
