Corp. Donation Ban Hurts Free Speech, Mass. Justices Hear

Law360, Boston (March 6, 2018, 9:09 PM EST) -- A pair of Massachusetts corporations on Tuesday asked the Supreme Judicial Court to strike down a century-old state law that bans corporations from making political contributions, while allowing unions and nonprofits to donate to candidates and cases, a status quo the businesses say violates their rights to free speech and equal protection.
