4th Circ. OKs Warrant Used to Convict 'Pill-Mill' Doctor

Law360, New York (December 7, 2017, 2:53 PM EST) -- The Fourth Circuit affirmed a Maryland federal court ruling Wednesday that a doctor who oversaw an oxycodone “pill mill” could not challenge law enforcement’s search warrant for his clinic, finding that they had probable cause to examine the facility and patient records.

A three-judge panel found that, despite deficiencies and omissions in the affidavit underlying the warrant, it described overwhelming documentary evidence of the illicit operations at Healthy Life Medical Group and was therefore legitimate.
