Deals Rumor Mill: Toshiba, YPF, Whole Foods

By Benjamin Horney (April 10, 2017, 7:15 PM EDT) -- Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Group has offered to pay as much as 3 trillion yen ($27 billion) for Toshiba Corp.'s memory chip business, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. Foxconn, which is formally known as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd., joins a long list of bidders that have been rumored to have interest in the Toshiba business. Reports late last month said Silver Lake Partners LP and Broadcom Ltd. were partnering to make a bid worth about 2 trillion yen, meaning Foxconn's rumored offer is far and away the highest yet. Other potential suitors include Western Digital Corp., Micron Technology Inc. and SK Hynix Inc....
