Hoeven, Udall Elected To Top Spots On Senate Indian Panel

Law360, New York (January 6, 2017, 7:30 PM EST) -- Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., and Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M., pledged to work across the aisle to support legislation benefiting Native Americans after they were elected Thursday as the new chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs.

Hoeven, who takes over the panel’s chairmanship from Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., said in a committee statement Thursday that he and Udall will tackle natural resource management, health care, education, public safety and housing for Native American communities in the new Congress.
