First Nations, Enviros Prevail In Yukon Watershed Plan Fight

Law360, New York (December 4, 2017, 9:27 PM EST) -- The Supreme Court of Canada on Friday ruled that the Yukon government didn’t “have the authority” to make the substantial changes that it did to a land use plan for the Peel watershed, handing a win to First Nations and environmental groups.

The Canadian high court’s decision said that Yukon and a group of First Nations worked together as part of a process set forth in earlier agreements — which established a collaborative planning process – to develop a regional land use plan for the watershed....
