Allstate Wins Toss Of Class Action Over Fire Losses

Law360, New York (September 29, 2010, 7:06 PM EDT) -- A judge has shot down a putative class action against Allstate Insurance Co. and its subsidiaries over its reimbursement practices in New York for fire-related property damages, finding that the company did not violate state law or its own contracts.

Judge John G. Koeltl of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed eight claims on Tuesday, including fraud and breach of contract in the case brought by two plaintiffs who suffered an insured fire loss in 2007.
