Watchdog Says DOJ Lost Data Pact Release Suit By Default

Law360, New York (January 7, 2016, 6:59 PM EST) -- A privacy rights group suing the U.S. Department of Justice to gain access to an information-sharing agreement between the U.S. and the European Union must alert the government to its request for default judgment, a D.C. federal judge said Thursday.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center had asked U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan for judgment on Wednesday, telling the court that the DOJ has failed to answer the November suit claiming the agency failed to reply to a Freedom of Information Act request for the document.
