Ombudsman Says Dick's Can Buy Golfsmith Customer Info

By Kat Sieniuc (October 31, 2016, 2:43 PM EDT) -- Delaware's bankruptcy court should approve the proposed sale of golf equipment retailer Golfsmith International Holdings' business and its customers' personally identifiable information to Dick's Sporting Goods, a consumer privacy ombudsman said Friday.

Cassandra M. Porter recommended a go-ahead of the planned sale that would keep 30 of the golf retailer's stores open, saying it's unlikely the transfer of personal data — being bought by another retailer in a similar business — will come at a cost to customers.
