These devices often have access to critical, highly personal information about their users, such as their life habits, or the presence of occupants in a dwelling. Thus, security vulnerabilities or deficiencies can cause the unauthorized disclosure or modification of highly sensitive information collected by the internet-of-things device. In addition, since IoT devices continuously communicate with the internet, sending and receiving data, a security deficiency may allow the device itself to be turned into a conduit for harmful attacks on other devices or equipment connected to the Internet....
