Deals Rumor Mill: Fiat Chrysler, CDP, Sharp Corp.

By Benjamin Horney (January 11, 2016, 6:22 PM EST) -- The CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV said that the company has decided to abandon its efforts for industry consolidation for the time being, according to a report from the Detroit News on Monday, including a potential merger with General Motors Co. According to the report, Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne made his comments to auto industry journalists during the first press day of the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, and the reasoning behind the company's decision is merely because there are no suitable peers willing to team up right now. Reports over the summer said that Marchionne was urging GM to consider a merger, although GM has stood pat in its lack of desire to do so....
