On April 13, 2018, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned the public of the outbreak which had begun in mid-March 2018. By April 27, 2018, it had been determined that 121 people from 25 states had become ill because of consuming this type of lettuce; 52 people had been hospitalized, 14 of those patients had developed kidney failure, and one fatality had occurred....
