Law360, New York (December 19, 2013, 5:25 PM EST) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation centralized three suits in Maryland federal court on Tuesday that accuse Cosamin supplement manufacturer Nutramax Laboratories Inc. of exaggerating the glucosamine-based capsules' power to protect damaged cartilage in consumers with arthritis.
The panel allowed the bid by Maryland-based Nutramax to centralize the litigation in Maryland, finding among other things that important documents and witnesses were likely to be found in the district, given Nutramax's headquarters there. The panel also noted that the cases involve common factual questions, and said it would be more efficient to centralize the suits there.
