CPSC Floats Changes To Product Info Disclosure Rules
Law360, New York (January 16, 2014, 6:34 PM EST) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Wednesday released proposed changes to rules restricting the agency's ability to publish product information without first notifying manufacturers, including new exemptions for information found online and in media reports.
Under Section 6(b) of the Consumer Product Safety Act, the 1972 law that established the CPSC, the agency is generally required to give companies at least 15 days' notice before publishing information that could identify them as a manufacturer or private labeler of a product.
