Pfizer Wants Professor's Report Out Of Birth Defect MDL
Law360, New York (February 6, 2014, 8:11 PM EST) -- Pfizer Inc. on Wednesday slammed a report by a Canadian professor that linked birth defects to pregnant women's use of Pfizer's antidepressant Zoloft, asking the court not to include her testimony in multidistrict litigation in a Pennsylvania court over the drug.
Anick Berard, who teaches at the University of Montreal, is not a medical doctor, Pfizer said, arguing that her report "cherry-picked" only studies that back her opinions and that it did not properly address other research showing Zoloft does not cause such defects, according to its motion.
