RJ Reynolds Hit With $6M Verdict In Engle Trial

By Sindhu Sundar (January 29, 2015, 7:56 PM EST) -- A Florida federal jury on Thursday delivered a $6 million dollar verdict against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and in favor of a Florida woman whose husband died of smoking-related causes.

After a trial that began Jan. 20, the jury assigned equal responsibility to R.J. Reynolds and to Henry Gray, who died in 1995, for his smoking related death. The jury awarded the $6 million in damages to his wife Ellen Gray for pain and suffering, and loss of companionship, among other things.
