Attys In Riceland MDL Win Cert. In Fight To Recover Fees

Law360, New York (March 19, 2015, 7:43 PM EDT) -- A Missouri federal judge on Thursday certified a class of attorneys and firms who say that Riceland Foods Inc. used their work in prosecuting its own claims against Bayer in multidistrict litigation related to crop contamination by its genetically modified rice.

U.S. District Judge Catherine Perry certified a class of attorneys and law firms who paid for common-benefit services in the MDL, in which Bayer agreed to pay $750 million in July 2011 to producer plaintiffs to settle claims that genetically modified rice not approved for human consumption made it into the U.S. rice supply.
