RJ Reynolds Slammed With $35M Verdict In Veteran's Death

Law360, Los Angeles (September 11, 2015, 3:13 PM EDT) -- A Florida jury walloped R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with $20 million in punitive damages Friday, adding to an earlier $14.7 million compensatory award to the family of a decorated U.S. Air Force sergeant who died of cancer in 1996.

The jury deliberated for just hours before awarding a total of $34.7 million in damages to the family of Garry O'Hara in the two-phase trial against R.J. Reynolds.
