Soy Butter Co. Hits Bankruptcy After Illness Outbreak

Law360, New York (May 17, 2017, 3:45 PM EDT) -- SoyNut Butter Co. has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy after a foodborne-illness crisis, according to documents filed in Illinois bankruptcy court.

The Glenview, Ill.-based company makes, or made, I.M. Healthy soy nut butter, which federal food-safety officials have blamed for 32 illnesses in 12 states after a U.S. Food and Drug Administration investigation concluded that E. coli contamination was the culprit.
