Packers Player Sues NFL In Substance Abuse Dispute

Law360, New York (November 30, 2016, 2:56 PM EST) -- Green Bay Packers player Mike Pennel sued the National Football League and the NFL Players Association on Tuesday, asking an Ohio federal court to appoint a neutral arbitrator to hear his appeal over a pending suspension for violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Pennel alleged that the NFL, the NFLPA and the league’s management council failed to honor their agreement with him over the arbitrator selection process and requested that the court place a temporary restraining order on the defendants and enjoin a hearing of his pending discipline until at least three arbitrators — and not just two, as proposed...
