USA Gymnastics Should Dissolve Itself In Bankruptcy

By Ronald Katz (December 7, 2018, 1:41 PM EST) -- USA Gymnastics, facing more than 100 lawsuits as a result of the Larry Nassar sex molestation crimes, filed for bankruptcy earlier this week in order to ensure its survival. As stated by its board chairwoman, Kathryn Carson, "This is not a liquidation. This is a reorganization." This statement, called for by no one, begs the question of why the organization should be preserved. Given its moral bankruptcy in the Nassar criminality, which went on for many years and victimized hundreds of girls and young women, USA Gymnastics should not be preserved. It should be replaced by a government agency that is less subject to economic pressures and that can, with financial and moral responsibility, respond to legitimate claims against it such as those filed by the gymnasts victimized by Nassar and his enablers....
