Weightlifter Hit With 4-Year Ban After Setting US Record

Law360, New York (January 10, 2017, 5:45 PM EST) -- A U.S. weightlifter was hit with a four-year suspension for testing positive for a banned substance shortly after setting an American women's weightlifting record, according to an American Arbitration Association arbitral decision released by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency Monday.

Charis Chan, 29, tested positive for a substance associated with trenbolone, which is banned by the World Doping Agency, after lifting 86 kg in the snatch, a U.S. women’s record in the 53 kg weight class, at the 2015 USA Weightlifting American Open, according to the arbitration...
