Rep. Chaffetz Hopes To Bar Tax-Delinquent Gov’t Workers

Law360, New York (January 11, 2017, 3:33 PM EST) -- A bill that would eliminate eligibility for federal civilian employment, contracts or grants for individuals with significant delinquent tax debt has passed the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz of Utah announced Tuesday.

The committee chair and author of the bill, Chaffetz said in a statement that the bill would require contractors, grant recipients and individuals applying for federal employment to certify their tax status upon application for contracts, grants or employment, and suspend or debar those found to have seriously delinquent...
