Google Asks Fed. Circ. To Revisit Messaging IP Suit Revival

Law360 (April 13, 2018, 7:36 PM EDT) -- Google LLC is urging the Federal Circuit to rehear a panel decision that gave new life to a patent lawsuit over its messaging services, arguing that the ruling raises important questions about whether continuation patents can be used to repeatedly sue a company over the same products.

The petition for rehearing, which was filed Wednesday, came a month after the Federal Circuit panel vacated a lower court's ruling that found SimpleAir Inc. was barred from suing Google over two patents directed to push notification technology.
