Essential Patent Import Bans Should Be Rare, FTC Head Says

Law360, New York (July 10, 2012, 7:45 PM EDT) -- Federal Trade Commission Chairman Jon Leibowitz told Law360 that companies should be allowed injunctions based on standard-essential patents only in "rare" circumstances and suggested that Congress may have to take action if the U.S. International Trade Commission allows companies to win import bans that could hurt competition.
