J2 Global, Others Hit With Suit Over Fax-To-Web Patents

Law360, Los Angeles (August 29, 2013, 4:14 PM EDT) -- A Seattle woman on Wednesday sued a former business partner, J2 Global Communications Inc. and several related companies, alleging the partner cut her out of inventorship and ownership credits for nine patents regarding an email-based system for faxes that has generated tens of millions in revenue.

Phyllis Huster claimed she was either the sole or co-inventor of the concepts covered by the nine patents, but she said former business partner Charles Bobo II named himself as sole inventor and owner of the patents without her knowledge.
