Venture Funding Falls In 4th Quarter To Cap Softer '16

Law360, New York (January 11, 2017, 7:03 AM EST) -- Venture capital funding continued its pullback in the fourth quarter to conclude a year that saw total such investment fall 20 percent, according to a report Wednesday, although some experts interpreted the results as a correction from an unsustainable boom rather than a slump.

Investors deployed $11.7 billion to U.S. venture-backed startups across 982 deals in the fourth quarter, down 17 percent in dollars and 14 percent in deals from the prior quarter, according to data compiled by global consultancy PwC and venture database CB Insights....
