AT&T, Cisco Leaders Warn Of Privacy, Safety Threats

Law360, Washington (April 27, 2017, 1:49 PM EDT) -- Cybersecurity leaders at AT&T Inc., Cisco Systems Inc. and other industry giants on Thursday sounded the alarm about the perils wrought by the so-called internet of things, warning that an explosion in internet-connected appliances from the faucet to the foundry could present not just privacy issues, but safety ones as well.

The private sector gurus explained at a Washington, D.C., cybersecurity summit that the fast-paced spread of internet protocol-enabled devices, including industrial systems such as electric grids, has come at the expense of proper security measures and is creating multiple access points for bad actors.
