Texas Appellate Judge Leaves Bench For Baker Botts

Law360, Houston (June 15, 2017, 6:43 PM EDT) -- Baker Botts LLP announced Thursday that Justice Rebeca Aizpuru Huddle has left her seat on Texas' First Court of Appeals and rejoined the firm's Houston office as a partner in its litigation department.

Huddle was a partner at the firm in 2011 when then-Gov. Rick Perry appointed her to the appellate court to fill a vacancy. She won election to a six-year term in 2012 that was set to expire in December 2018. Huddle told Law360 on Thursday it's not unusual for judges to leave the bench before their term ends, explaining that's what led to her summer 2011 appointment.
