Peter Madoff Victims Urge Tough Sentence

Law360, New York (December 19, 2012, 7:24 PM EST) -- Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme ruined lives and Peter Madoff, his brother and chief compliance officer at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, deserves a harsh sentence, victims said in letters released Wednesday.

Forty letters from the victims, many of whom are in their 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, laid out a common story — a sudden fall from financial security to poverty after Madoff admitted in December 2008 that his vaunted securities firm was a Ponzi scheme.
