Tax, Free Market Groups Ally Against Private C-Band Sales

By Anne Cullen (April 10, 2019, 6:51 PM EDT) -- More than a dozen taxpayer and free-market groups on Wednesday denounced a proposal that the Federal Communications Commission reallocate C-Band spectrum through private deals rather than a public auction, telling the agency that the plan would hurt taxpayers and the treasury.

The commission is mulling proposed plans that could free parts of the C-Band currently used for satellite transmissions, including a private sale or an FCC-overseen auction.
