Jiau's Bid For New Insider Trading Trial Nixed By 2nd Circ.

Law360, New York (March 28, 2016, 10:01 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit on Monday upheld a lower court’s refusal of a new trial bid by convicted insider trader and former Primary Global Research LLC freelance consultant Winifred Jiau, brushing aside her claims that she had newly discovered evidence revealing a conflict of interest by Jiau’s attorneys.

U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff last year had denied Jiau’s motion for a new trial as untimely and said the purported new evidence — emails with her attorneys and online biographies of several lawyers involved in the case — is "neither new nor evidence."
