Even 'Good Hombres' Not Safe From Removal: 9th Circ. Judge

By Kevin Penton (May 30, 2017, 7:32 PM EDT) -- A Ninth Circuit judge on Tuesday harshly criticized the Trump administration's immigration policies while acknowledging the court could not bar the removal of a Mexican native, saying that deporting the entrepreneur and father of three demonstrates that "even the 'good hombres' are not safe."

Because the Ninth Circuit does not have the legal authority to grant the stay of removal request sought by Andres Magana Ortiz, the federal government is effectively forcing the court to go along with "ripping apart a family," wrote U.S. Circuit Judge Stephen Reinhardt in a concurring opinion.
