Army Fights Trademarks For NHL's Vegas Golden Knights

Law360, New York (January 11, 2018, 5:40 PM EST) -- The U.S. Army asked the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Wednesday to block the NHL’s newest team, the Vegas Golden Knights, from registering its name as a trademark, citing the Army’s own Golden Knights parachute team.

Months after it hinted it might do so, the Army filed a formal notice of opposition at USPTO’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board asking it to block the team from registering “Las Vegas Golden Knights” and “Vegas Golden Knights” as trademarks for presenting live hockey games.
