Redbox Calls Disney Copyright Suit 'Anti-Competitive'

Law360, New York (January 17, 2018, 3:20 PM EST) -- Redbox is pushing back on a copyright lawsuit from Walt Disney aimed at blocking the movie rental company from selling digital films at its kiosks, blasting the case as an attempt to “thwart competition and require consumers to pay higher prices.”

Disney sued in November over Redbox’s plans to offer codes that allow customers to access digital versions of their rentals and is now pushing for a preliminary injunction that would shut down the service while the case is pending.
