Suspicion Surrounds Ark. Lawyer Over Missing $9M

Law360, New York (May 11, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A well-known plaintiffs lawyer in Arkansas has reportedly come under suspicion from federal authorities after failing to cough up $9 million in settlement money in a securities class action against insurer Bisys Group Inc., which was supposed to be distributed to plaintiffs starting in April.

Gene Cauley is being questioned over the missing settlement money, with his attorney, John Wesly Hall, indicating that Cauley is working with authorities to make sure that everyone will be made whole, the Wall Street Journal law blog reported.
