Sony Takes EMI To Court Over Broken Exec Deal

Law360, New York (May 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Sony Music Entertainment Inc., miffed about being played for a pawn in the contract negotiations of an executive from rival music company EMI Music North America, has filed suit against EMI and the executive.

In a lawsuit filed Friday in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Sony claims longtime EMI executive Ronn Werre signed a contract to take over as president of Sony Music's commercial music group, only to renege on that offer and sign on as EMI's new chief operating officer....
