Ex-Running Mate Sues Disbarred Pol Over Campaign Finance

Law360 (February 28, 2018, 8:36 PM EST) -- A former Hoboken, New Jersey, mayor convicted in a bribery scheme was slammed with a lawsuit Monday in state court by a former running mate alleging that the disbarred attorney's fraudulent actions had exposed him to potential fines over purported campaign finance violations.

Plaintiff Angel Alicea trusted Peter J. Cammarano III, who specialized in election law, when the then-lawyer said he would comply with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission in handling campaign finance reports in 2009, according to Louis A. Zayas, an attorney representing Alicea in the lawsuit.
