Law360 (March 1, 2018, 5:41 PM EST) -- Lawmakers for the United Arab Emirates have approved a long-awaited draft federal arbitration law, the country's official news agency has reported.
The UAE's Federal National Council approved the draft arbitration law on Tuesday, the Emirates News Agency said. Once the law is finalized, it will apply to all arbitrations within the country as long as the parties have not agreed to be subject to another arbitration law.
Arbitrations in the country must also not conflict with UAE "public order or morals," the news agency said. The report did not describe the next steps before the legislation is finalized.
