Kirkland Shouldn't Represent General Growth: Trustee

Law360 (May 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. trustee overseeing the bankruptcy of mall operator General Growth Properties Inc. has objected to GGP's motion to employ Kirkland & Ellis LLP as co-counsel alongside Weil Gotshal & Manges LLP, and has asked Weil for more information about its possible conflicts.

In an objection filed Thursday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, U.S. Trustee Diana G. Adams said GGP shouldn't be allowed to employ Kirkland in addition to Weil because it could lead to duplicative services.
