DreamWorks Escapes IP Spat Over 'Las Vegas'

Law360 (May 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has ruled that DreamWorks LLC’s television series “Las Vegas” does not infringe the works of two writers who showed their Las Vegas-based stories to the production company’s representatives, despite a number of similarities in the stories.

Judge Gary Allen Feess of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Thursday granted summary judgment to DreamWorks, dismissing the copyright claims, as well as claims of breach of implied in fact contract and breach of confidence without prejudice.
