Costco Holds Workers Captive Without Pay: Suit

Law360, New York (May 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Costco Wholesale Corp. has been hit with a $50 million putative class action by an employee who claims the company locks its workers in its stores for 15 minutes at the close of their shifts without compensation or reasonable explanation.

The allegation is at the center of a wage-and-hour suit filed Thursday in the Superior Court of the State of California in San Diego by Costco worker Mary Pytelewski on behalf of a potential class of hundreds of the wholesale giant's hourly employees.
