Citing NFL's Marshawn Lynch, TTAB Refuses 'Beast Mode' TM

Law360 (March 13, 2018, 11:05 PM EDT) -- The Trademark Trial and Appeal Board has refused to register “Beast Mode Soccer” as a trademark for sports equipment and apparel, citing NFL superstar Marshawn Lynch and his “Beast Mode” nickname.

David Copeland-Smith, who uses the name for a youth soccer training program, applied in 2011 to register it for soccer balls and for T-shirts, but the board said Friday that it was confusingly similar to Lynch’s nickname.
