Houston Man Sues Hospital Over English-Only Instructions

Law360 (March 14, 2018, 9:21 PM EDT) -- A Houston area man sued Memorial Hermann Health System in Texas state court Tuesday, alleging the English-only care instructions the hospital gave his non-English-fluent son when the man was discharged after treatment for a heart infection amounted to medical malpractice.

According to the petition, Song Xie came to the hospital's emergency room on Dec. 24, 2015, complaining of abdominal pain, extreme fatigue and chest pain. He was admitted to the hospital that day and found to have infective endocarditis, a heart infection.
