NY Docs Got Lap Dances, Booze From Insys, DOJ Says

Law360 (March 16, 2018, 8:57 PM EDT) -- Five New York doctors prescribed a potent painkiller sold by Insys Therapeutics Inc. in exchange for money and lavish kickbacks, including lap dances and liquor that two of the doctors accepted, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a felony indictment unsealed Friday.

The doctors, who have been affiliated recently with prestigious medical centers in New York City, all face maximum prison sentences of 30 years if convicted of charges involving fraud and the Anti-Kickback Statute. Each is accused of accepting tens of thousands of dollars in recent years as part of sham speaking engagements and writing prescriptions for Insys' fentanyl...
